(makes 8 pancakes)
100g (4oz) Plain flour
1 egg
300 ml (1/2 pint) milk
METHOD AND ANSWERS
Problem1:
How much of each ingredient do I need? How many pancakes will my new recipe serve if I use half a dozen eggs?
PROBLEM 1 METHOD
I need to multiply each ingredient by 6
6 X 1 egg = 6 eggs
6 X 100g plain flour= 600g plain flour or 6 x 4oz plain flour = 24 oz plain flour
6 X 300ml milk = 1800 ml or 1.8 l or 6 X ½ pint = 3 pints milk
6 X 8 pancakes = 48 pancakes
How much of each ingredient do I need?
Problem 1 Pancake recipe ingredient list
(makes 48 pancakes)
600g (24 oz) Plain flour
6 eggs
1800 ml/ 1.8 litres (3 pints) milk
How many pancakes will my new recipe serve if I use half a dozen eggs?
If I use half a dozen eggs then I will serve 48 pancakes
Problem 2:
PROBLEM 2 METHOD
I need to multiply each ingredient by 5
5 x 8 pancakes = 40 pancakes
5 x 100g = 500g or ½ kg or 5 x 4oz = 20 oz Plain flour
5 x 1 egg = 5 eggs
5 x 300 ml = 1500ml or 1 ½ litres milk or (5 x ½ pint = 2 ½ pints) milk
Problem 2 Pancake recipe ingredient list
(makes 40 pancakes)
500g/ ½ kg (20z) Plain flour
5 eggs
1500ml/ 1 ½ litres (2 ½ pints) milk
Please note I’ve rounded the milk to the nearest ½ pint.
